Risograph printing
Risograph printing first emerged in Japan in the 1980s and has since become a popular choice for illustrators and artists. Riso is not your ordinary printer. It uses a limited colour system, accommodating up to four colours and a diverse range of inks, including neon and metallic shades. Each colour is applied individually through large rollers, resulting in a stunning layered effect that's a unique look.
Riso printing is very eco-friendly. It uses soy-based, non-toxic inks that are kind to our planet. Beyond that, it's an energy-efficient process that generates minimal waste. What's particularly enchanting about Riso printing is its unpredictability. Thanks to its unique printing process, each print is subtly different, giving every piece its own distinct character. It's the kind of individuality that makes Riso printing truly special.
I'm proud to mention that every card printed by Hippolyta Press is both designed and risograph printed right here in the UK.
